Projektron BCS 24.2

The agile development model Scrum combined with the appropriate Projektron BCS support makes it possible: Find out here which important innovations are planned for the next version. Please note that there is no guarantee that the announced features will appear in exactly this form and in the next release. Short-term changes cannot be ruled out.

Implementation of passkeys in BCS

BCS 24.2 introduces the implementation of a passwordless authentication method via passkeys in BCS. The implementation of passkeys in BCS increases both security and user-friendliness by eliminating the most common problems and weaknesses of conventional passwords:

1. Increased security:

  • Strong encryption: passkeys consist of a random and long combination of characters that are difficult to guess. This makes brute force almost impossible.
  • Phishing protection: Passkeys are domain-specific, which means that they cannot be used on other domains, even if they are intercepted.
  • Protection against credential stuffing: As passkeys are generated uniquely for each application, they cannot be reused for other applications.
  • Security gain in the event of data leaks: Public keys can be stored in the database without additional cryptographic procedures because they alone are worthless to attackers.

2. Improved user-friendliness

  • Simplicity: users no longer have to remember passwords, which simplifies operation.
  • Multiple passkeys for different accounts: Users can store and manage multiple passkeys on one medium (smartphone, TPM, USB stick), making it easier to handle different accounts.
  • No need to enter the user name: With the resident key (user handle), it is not necessary to enter the user name when logging in.

3. Avoidance of typical password problems:

  • No weak passwords: as passkeys are system-generated and random, the risk of weak passwords is eliminated.
  • No forgetting passwords: Users no longer have to write down or memorize passwords.
  • Protection against social engineering: As passkeys are not entered directly by the user, they cannot be intercepted by social engineering techniques.

Simply better organized: personal Kanban board for work organization

Are you overwhelmed with tasks and no longer know where your head is? With Projektron BCS 24.2, every user can now organize themselves more clearly and efficiently. This is made possible by the personal Kanban board for work organization. Each user can set up this new Kanban board in their personal area with user-defined swimlanes and statuses. Elements such as tickets, resubmissions or appointments can be created there independently as board elements and organized as desired using drag-and-drop. Each board element has an optional deadline, title and description. This new feature enables better planning, organization and tracking of tasks for the user.

To-do lists in description fields of tickets or Kanban cards

Projektron BCS 24.2 implements a lightweight to-do list that can be used in the description fields of tickets and Kanban cards. This functionality is based on the CKEditor, which makes it possible to create simple to-do lists directly in the text editor. These to-do lists offer a simpler and more user-friendly way to manage tasks and subtasks and facilitate the structured processing of tasks within tickets and Kanban cards, which increases efficiency and clarity.

New tool: make selections and assignments from list views

The new version of BCS will make things easier for many users: Any objects in list views will be easier to select and collectively assign to other objects thanks to the new tool. For example, individual persons can be selected from a list of people and assigned to a circular mail as a recipient, a ticket as an editor or a survey as a respondent. This simplified assignment option will significantly increase efficiency in numerous use cases.

Buttons receive icons instead of labels

In the course of the continuous and fundamental GUI revision, we will say goodbye to the labeling of many buttons with labels in BCS 24.2. They will be replaced by typical and familiar icons. “Edit”, for example, can be represented by a pencil icon, “Close” by an “X” icon and “Done” by a tick. Overall, this will make user guidance even more intuitive.
