As a specialized facility for accident, severe burn and spinal injuries, as well as with the facilities of the Paraplegic Center, the Neuro Center and the Center for Septic Surgery, the hospital offers interdisciplinary care at the highest medical level. The close linking of acute medicine with early rehabilitation is a defining aspect of daily work. Special attention is paid to vocational rehabilitation and reintegration of patients into their working and living environments, always in keeping with the motto: "Help and heal by all appropriate means."
With ten specialist clinics and 18 wards, comprising a total of 580 beds, more than 1,700 nurses, doctors, therapists and staff are committed to the well-being of patients around the clock. As a result, about 14,400 patients can be treated annually as inpatients and more than 38,500 patients as outpatients, regardless of whether they are insured through accident insurance carriers, statutory or private health insurers.
The clinic was founded in 1894 as a convalescent home for miners, making it the second oldest accident clinic in Germany. Today, BG Klinikum Bergmannstrost Halle is part of BG Kliniken, the hospital association of the statutory accident insurance.
