With over 1,200 beds and around 3,000 employees and trainees, the Medical University of Lausitz – Carl Thiem is the largest employer in Cottbus and one of the largest and most efficient hospitals in Germany. The Medical University of Lausitz – Carl Thiem is a medical high-performance center with over 20 clinics, departments and sections and stands for excellent comprehensive medical care. More than 100,000 inpatients and/or outpatients are treated here every year.
The Medical University of Lausitz – Carl Thiem is known for state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapy: the ultra-modernPET-CT enables highly precise tumor therapy, while the new hybrid operating theater enables minimally invasive heart and brain surgery. Other facilities at the Medical University of Lausitz – Carl Thiem include a Chest Pain Unit and a Stroke Unit. In addition, the CTK is one of only two clinics in Brandenburg to have a Level 1 Perinatal Center (highest standard). Here, premature babies born after a particularly short pregnancy can be treated.
