Quality and project management in one software
User report from Accenture GmbH
As a specialist for process design and IT solutions, we have been working with Projektron BCS in customer projects for over 15 years. The software supports us in all phases of planning and implementing information systems. From process analysis to sales and controlling - Projektron BCS has made our workflows transparent and enabled us to reduce our efforts.
Accenture GmbH in the Industry X Production and Operations business unit, until 2022 SALT Solutions, provides IT solutions and
systems integration for production, logistics and trade. The focus is on the development of business-critical solutions based on SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and Java technologies and platforms. We accompany projects from planning and implementation to comprehensive, international rollout and operation.
Accenture GmbH' long-standing customers include Lufthansa, Daimler, Coca-Cola, BASF, Deutsche Post, Fiege, Otto and Würth. More than 500 employees work at our locations in Dresden, Düsseldorf, Munich and Würzburg.
At the Würzburg location alone, we realize 30 to 50 projects a year. Usually these last between 4 and 5 months up to one year and have a budget of 200,000 to 1 million euros. We analyze processes, select the appropriate systems and customize solutions where our customers' wishes deviate from the standard. Our solutions directly control the value-adding processes of our customers. As a long-standing logistics partner of Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, for example, we were commissioned with the implementation of SAP Extended Warehouse Management during the construction of the new distribution center at the Künzelsau-Gaisbach site.
In such projects, the coordination of quality and project management is crucial. This is the only way we can introduce our solutions during ongoing operations and under high time pressure. We have been using Projektron BCS since 2004 to ensure this smooth project management process.
Until 2003, we used a self-developed tool for task and resource management. However, this tool could not cover our growing requirements in everyday project work and, based on a cost-benefit analysis, we decided against the further development of our system. Projektron BCS proved to be a more efficient solution.
The web-based approach of Projektron BCS corresponded particularly well to our ideas of company-wide project structuring. We quickly liked the detailed rights management, resource management, effort recording with residual value estimation and the controlling functions.
As a browser-based software, Projektron BCS can also be used across locations, and our employees can now access all project information and record efforts on site at the customer's premises. In the meantime, Projektron BCS is used at all four locations, in all departments at Accenture GmbH.
The full integration of Projektron BCS is one of the biggest advantages for our quality management. All perspectives can be mapped in one system. The milestone trend analysis provides an overview of whether goals are being achieved on schedule and provides interim evaluations at any time.
In project planning, the project manager sets the milestones at the beginning. Once the rough planning has been completed, he informs the quality officer, who divides the project into phases and adds his own milestones to the project plan for quality assurance. As soon as such a milestone is reached, release for further processing of the previous result is required by the quality representative. Conversely, Projektron BCS sounds an alarm if a project has not reached a release milestone in time.
The Gantt chart and the baselines are important tools that can be used to illustrate the progress of the project at any time; this enables us to carry out reliable project controlling. This allows us to forecast our projects more and more accurately and optimise the planning of expenses. This interweaving of quality management and project execution ensures that the experience from previous projects is actually used in new projects.
In addition, the central employee data supports our team planning: The skills matrix and vacation management show at a glance which employee is available for which task and when. Since the introduction of Projektron BCS, we have continued to expand the range of functions. In sales, we document customer data and record lead tracking, which ensures transparency in contact with our customers. Projektron BCS also supports us with the integrated ticket system. This enables our SAP-certified support team of more than 100 people to handle many smaller projects for system maintenance and further development of SAP and non-SAP systems internationally and around the clock.
Many of our suggestions regarding Projektron BCS have been taken up and implemented by the Projektron team. At the moment, we are working on the more detailed mapping of our personnel resource planning in Projektron BCS. We want to make greater use of the functional scope of Projektron BCS and work more intensively with the resource utilization views in particular in the future.
The comprehensive evaluation options have become an important part of our projects. Today, we can look back on many years of good cooperation with Projektron and want to continue on this path together.
