Success story from Spirent Communications GmbH
Spirent Communications develops software and systems that can be used to scrutinise electronic components. We develop and distribute software that supports our customers in testing software-based systems to see whether they fulfil practical requirements - as realistically and comprehensively as possible. Our test suites can be used to test such systems for functionality, stress resistance or tolerance to operating errors, for example. Projektron BCS helps the company to maintain an internal overview.
Spirent Communications GmbH, formerly Testing Technologies, was founded in 2000 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS. Since then, we have established a leading position in our business field - and have grown continuously: we now have around 30 employees in Berlin, and our customers include Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco Systems, Continental, Siemens and Sony-Ericsson.
Today, Spirent is the world's leading provider of automated test and security solutions for communication networks, cyber security and positioning.
We provide innovative products, services and managed solutions that address the test, security and automation challenges of a new generation of technologies, including 5G, cloud, autonomous vehicles and beyond. From testing in the lab to testing in the real world, Spirent helps organisations deliver on their promise to their customers of a new generation of connected devices and technologies.
Subjecting calculations to a reality check
Our continuous growth meant that our internal organisational structures had to be adapted: where evaluations and time recording could still be done with MS Excel at the beginning, a professional system was needed at some point. After looking around the market and testing several systems, we finally decided in favour of Projektron BCS.
It has made our work much easier. The project management system makes it much easier to structure projects, especially in the consulting sector: We can now specify milestones and deadlines. During the ongoing project, it is easy to see whether we are still on time and on budget.
The latter in particular helps us a lot: We usually agree fixed prices with our customers. We therefore need to be able to recognise whether our calculations cover the costs. With Projektron BCS, we are now in a position to make adjustments if work requires more effort than expected.
Familiarisation was no trouble at all
Projektron BCS has made our work much easier and more accurate: Where previously we had to copy and compare data from various lists, the software now does the work at the touch of a button. It's easy to find your way around, the familiarisation process was also simple and our employees were quickly able to book their hours in the system. So far, we have hardly had to call on support. Most of the time we've got to grips with it ourselves. Overall, we can therefore say that Projektron BCS fulfils the requirements we place on the system very well.
We are very satisfied with our decision in favour of the software.
